Code of Conduct

Purpose

The Friends of Ryan McIrvin campaign is committed to maintaining a positive, inclusive, and professional environment for all staff, volunteers, and supporters. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for behavior and sets the standard for ethical and respectful conduct throughout the campaign.

Core Values

  • Integrity: Honest and transparent communication and actions.

  • Respect: Treat everyone with dignity, regardless of background or political affiliation.

  • Accountability: Take responsibility for actions and decisions.

  • Inclusivity: Foster a welcoming environment that values diversity and equity.

  • Civility: Engage in positive, issue-focused dialogue and avoid personal attacks or misinformation.

Expectations

  1. Professionalism: Conduct yourself in a respectful and professional manner at all times.

  2. Compliance with Laws and Regulations: Follow all election laws, campaign finance regulations, and local ordinances.

  3. Respectful Communication: No tolerance for abusive language, harassment, or intimidation, both in-person and online.

  4. Confidentiality: Protect sensitive campaign information and respect the privacy of others.

  5. Non-Discrimination: No tolerance for discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, or any other protected status.

  6. Conflict Resolution: Address disagreements constructively and escalate concerns to campaign leadership when needed.

  7. No Violence or Threats: Any form of physical violence, threats, or intimidation will result in immediate removal from the campaign.

Social Media Guidelines

  • Use social media responsibly and in alignment with campaign values.

  • Focus on substantive, issue-based communication and avoid negative or defamatory posts about opponents.

  • Refrain from sharing false or misleading information.

Reporting Violations

Violations of this Code of Conduct should be reported to the Campaign Manager. All reports will be handled confidentially and with respect.

Consequences of Violations

Violations may result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from campaign activities.

Acknowledgment

All staff and volunteers are required to read, understand, and agree to this Code of Conduct before participating in campaign activities.
